Top 5 DC Comics Videogames

Since I shared my opinions on my top 5 Marvel videogames last week, I figured I'd be fair and shared my top 5 DC games this week. Spoiler alert, 3 of them are from the Batman Arkham Series. I joke... Only 2 of them are.

Honourable Mentions: Batman: Arkham Knight, Injustice: Gods Among Us, All those addictive Lego games, Batman Begins, Batman: The Rise of Tzin Tzu

#5. Superman Returns

This was a great example of how good a Superman game could be. However, it was sadly held back by being a tie-in to the Superman Returns movie. The villains featured were great (Metallo and Mongul) and the health system was very innovative. As everyone knows, Supes can only really be harmed by Kryptonite so they opted to have the health bar be that of Metropolis so you'd have a game over screen if too much property damage was done, which gave a nice twist to this game.

#4. Batman: Arkham City

I know a lot of people would have this higher on their list but their were other titles that I felt beat this, including it's predecessor. Arkham City saw a continuation of the fantastic story, aesthetics and controls of Arkham Asylum but on a much larger scale. City saw you in a section of Gotham that had been blocked off as a means of keeping the criminals under control by having them imprisoned in an entire district. Being as that was the case, Arkham City saw appearances from Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, Calender Man, Poison Ivy, Clay-Face, Hush and many, many more of Batman's rogue gallery. It also allowed you to play as Catwoman (provided you had the day 1 DLC or special editions) which added a whole new element to the game.

#3. Injustice 2

So the Injustice universe is an alternate universe wherein the Joker targeted Superman and made Supes kill a pregnant Lois Lane in error. This then set Superman off on a dark path of ruling the earth and killing anyone who disagreed with him. The game type was a 1 on 1 fighting game that made for some great match-ups and the second instalment improved on virtually all areas of the first (Not to mention DLC that included Hellboy and the TMNT). The story was great and the game mechanics were spot on

#2. Batman: Arkham Asylum

Arkham Asylum is one of my all-time favourite games across any platform and generation. The story, visuals, controls and voice cast were all great - they brought Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy back to play the Joker and Batman (both had played those roles throughout the 90s Bruce Timm cartoons). The Easter eggs and Riddler challenges were that in depth that it made you want to collect and find them all.

#1. Justice League Heroes (Xbox/PlayStation 2)

Man, this was great. Launching at the same time as Marvel's Ultimate Alliance, DC's equivalent was actually probably a bit better. You'd pick 2 DC Heroes and set out on missions across various DC locales while also unlocking your way through Justice League history. Playing as Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) and Green Arrow at the time to take on all comers was all I needed in a video game but adding DC's extensive roster made it all the more sweeter.

So that's my list, thanks for taking the time to read it and please let me know what your top 5 are in the comments section!
