Sucker Punch knows how to do gaming.

If you haven't played Ghost of Tsushima on the Playstation 4 or even 5 if you are spawny enough to get one, I suggest you go to the shops and buy it right now. What's that? You haven't got a Playstation 4 or 5?... Well go and buy one and then buy Ghost of Tsushima. What do you mean you haven't got the money? Beg, borrow, get a payday loan, steal or mug someone, do something and get your hands on this game. (Only joking about this last bit!)

Set in 1274, you play as Jin Sakai, a Samurai on the Island of Tsushima whose is seriously injured in a battle against the invading Mongol army. You are left for dead and your Uncle Lord Shimura has been kidnapped by the Mongol Leader, Khotun Khan. Rescued by a petty thief named Yuri, you are nursed back to health and Jin soon realises that he cannot defeat the Mongols by himself. So he searches the island looking to recruit allies and learn new fighting techniques to assist him in rescuing Lord Shimura and defeat the Mongol army. Fighting with honour is one of the most important codes of a Samurai and Jin begins to question whether he can defeat the invaders and soon realises that he might have to fight dirty in order to win. As Jin disrupts the Mongol activities, liberates towns and rescues his people across the island, the locals begin to revere him as "The Ghost" and the Mongol armies began to fear "The Ghost" as your reputation spreads. Jin slowly goes from being a very capable Samurai to a lethal killing machine with weapons and tools that transform him into a ninja-like character. You can choose to take on many enemies face to face or use stealth and cunning to defeat your foes.

Unless you have been hiding under a tree or you are not an avid gamer, you will have seen the luscious graphics, jaw-dropping open world and the absolute spot-on swordplay mechanics of the game. It's 1 of only 4 games by a western developer that Famitsu Gaming Website has given a 40/40. Even Metacritic users have given it a 92% and it received near-universal praise from the gaming press.

While I was playing it and I had about 3 missions left to complete before I finished it, I had hardly any side missions left either when my fucking hard drive packed up! I was so pissed off, I had spent probably 30 hours on it and all my progress was gone. I'm guessing the other half switch off the PS4 while cleaning while it was in sleep mode updating. After trying to recover the hard drive and realising it was actually fucked, I bought an SSD and stuck it in and thought I wasn't going to bother playing it again but the game is that good, that I slowly started being drawn back into again and just recently completed it, including all the side missions.

One of the last PS4 exclusives is also in my humble opinion, has been one of the best games I have ever played. The developer Sucker Punch have done a fantastic job creating a game and world of such beauty that slowly draws you in and never lets you go. I have always enjoyed games with any kind of martial arts theme and this game seems to do everything right. The combat is superb and the difficulty is challenging but not frustratingly hard like Sekiro or Ninja Gaiden. The dialogue at times is a bit odd but overall, the game captures the essence and give the player the power of being a badass. The game is a perfect blend of action, adventure, discovery and stealth that is hard to beat. I've played lots of games but it's been a while since I've played something this engaging and fun to the point where I was sad that the game ended. But just when I thought that Sucker Punch couldn't do any more, just I was about to hang up my sword for good, they go above and beyond what other developers like EA or Activision would do and have included a free download multiplayer option called Ghost of Tsushima Legends. Any other developer, may have charged monies and I normally don't pay for extra content, but if Sucker Punch had wanted some extra money, I would have paid.

For a start, there is a 2 player cooperative mode where you and another player online can take on the spirits of dead Mongols with 4 different classes of fighters. The campaign takes about 2 hours and is great fun and requires some cooperative tactics to finish. Then there is also a four-player survival mode as well as a raid which takes place over 3 chapters. It's a brilliant addition to what is already a fucking phenomenal game. The game has been one of the fastest-selling first-party original IPs, selling over 2.4 million units in its first 3 days of sales. Rather than cashing in and making more money out of the public, which I am sure Sucker Punch could have done, I feel that the developers have released this extra content as a huge thank you to those who have purchased the game and stuck with it. In that regards, I think that Sucker Punch are on of the side of gamers.

So thank you Sucker Punch, you really do know what gamers want and care about.

And why are you reading this...go buy the game now!!
