The Wednesday Wrestling Round Up: Wednesday 13th November 2019

Hey folks, welcome to the inaugural edition of the Wedesday Wrestling Round Up. Each week I will be commenting on some of the biggest pieces of news in wrestling from any and all promotions from around the globe. So let's get to it!

#5. Impact Wrestling Set To Make History at Hard to Kill, January 2019

This is only at number 5 because of the amount of exposure this piece of news has garnered over the last week, including on this site where we have TWO articles covering this otherwise it would be higher on this list. Impact Wrestling officially announced that January's Hard to Kill PPV event would be headlined by World Heavyweight Champion Sami Callihan defending the title against Tessa Blanchard and could potentially see the crowning of the first female World Champion.

#4. Kenny Omega/Jon Moxley, Jericho/Cody up the violence at AEW Full Gear

PG, it ain't! One of the things that was speculated as AEW was announced was their approach to the product as being something to bring back fans who stopped watching wrestling during the "Monday Night Wars" and at last weekend's Full Gear PPV both of these matches showcased the same level of intensity and violence that WWE and ECW were known for in the late 90s. Omega/Moxley saw Omega using a sweeping brush wrapped in barbed wire to sweep Moxley's back and Jericho/Cody saw Cody get opened up hardway above his eye. It's apparent from these two matches alone that AEW is looking to be a true alternative to the WWE.

#3. ROH debuted on UK's Fight Network channel, Friday 8th November

This may not be big news across the pond but in the UK ROH has always been incredibly difficult to watch on a regular basis due to having no network coverage. It's debut didn't disappoint and is now set to record weekly on my Sky box. Thank you Fight Network!

#2. UK's Slam Wrestling announces regular episodic shows to be featured on OVW's streaming service!

This is a huge piece of news for one of the UK's longest running wrestling companies. Congratulations to all involved. As many people know, Slam Wrestling holds a special place in my heart due to their general treatment of me (wrestled there a bunch of times myself, have had some great experiences all round) and I'm very happy to hear this news!

#1. CM Punk Returns to WWE (Sort of)

It couldnt really be anything else this week, could it? This weekend's edition of WWE Backstage on Fox Sports saw the surprise return of CM Punk in the she's closing moments and while this doesn't confirm an in-ring return, it certainly strengthens the possibility. As a CM Punk fan since the beginning, I'm one of the numerous fans that can't wait to see where this leads.
