Back in January 2017, we had chance to catch up with one of TNA’s top performers, the former X-Division Champion, Rockstar Spud (for our third interview with him). Below are the highlights:
On the current boom in British Wrestling:
“Everyone goes on about the UK scene now and as a British Wrestler it’s absolutely fabulous. It really is awesome to see the UK scene blowing up the way that it is. TNA were always an enormous factor in that. We always push UK talent, especially on our tours. We always push UK talent on our shows. We also introduce the world to British talent with regards to British Boot Camp 1 and 2. If you look at British Boot Camp 2 there’s 16 performers on that show and a number of them have either appeared on World of Sport or WWE UK or NXT so it’s an amazing thing that TNA have done over the years and I think really pioneered helping the UK scene get some recognition. Now the scenes completely blown up and it’s so awesome and we can’t wait to get back over here – and things are in place for us to be touring and we’re looking forward to getting that going.”

On his recent gimmick change and pairing with Aron Rex:
“Not many people have really gone out of their way to look for that five star classic wrestling match that we put on, but they’re always very entertained by what we do. We’re very, you know, we’re just fabulous entertainers really and in the vain of Liberace- who was a fabulous entertainer in his own right – and you know you can just see Aron Rex and Me entertain and that’s pretty much what we’re about. We’re there to give you a great performance every time we’re out there.”
On his work with the Starlight foundation:
“We still keep in touch all the time just to see what things we can do and obviously what I can do while I’m over the other side of the pond, what can I do when I’m over here and it’s a wonderful organisation to be representing and I’m just very proud to be an ambassador for such an amazing company.”
