WWE have had to change their plans regarding Summerslam, the event will now be taking place at the WWE performance centre according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider. Summerslam was originally scheduled to take place in Boston at the TDGarden Arena on the 23rd of August. The location had been booked earlier this year prior to the global health crisis caused by Covid 19, WWE had hoped that the situation would have improved by the time Summerslam came around, however this has not been case.
The decision to move Summerslam was not in the WWE’s hands, back in May the Mayor of Boston Marty Walsh had banned large groups from gathering in the city until the end of summer, this ban on gatherings runs until September 7th. Vince McMahon was adamant that Summerslam billed as the biggest Party of the Summer have fans in attendance and with no news on whether a small gathering of fans would’ve been okay, the WWE have been forced to move it to the Performance centre in Florida. Although WWE have made no official announcement yet, many other sites have corroborated the story.
