Tuesday was a huge night for British Wrestling fans as one of England's longest running promotions - Slam Wrestling - held their first YouTube premiere for this fantastic closed set edition of Slam Wrestling TV.
I had initially looked to review this in full myself, but reached out to the head of Slam Wrestling's creative - Mr. Cliff Cox - for his thoughts on the show and he offered me his thoughts on every aspect. So, without further ado, here are Cliff's thoughts in there entirety:
"With how life is now its the time for new beginnings and SLAM Wrestling is no different. Slam wants to give you a new look studio wrestling and what a 1st show. We kicked off with Big Jon Allens vs Aaron James This was the 5th Match with these two guys. With Jonny carrying out a body bag he looked angry with having to wait 5 months to get his hands on Aaron With Aaron giving 5 stone to big Jonny Allen he doesn't wait for the bell he goes straight for Jonny It looks like this is going to be Jonnys match from the start but with Aaron's new attitude and his love for taking risks Aaron goes high risk with his patented swanton but misses Jonny Allen and Jonny gets the win But what comes after is the scary bit... Jonny slams Aaron onto the body bag and then puts Aaron into the bag!
Now we have two new names who both want a slam contract Stevie Jones vs Lory. Now Stevie was upset that he was wrestling a woman and after letting Lory to get out of the ring she gives him 3 big slaps Stevie takes a few short cuts pulling her hair and chocking her but as Lory gets angry she comes back with a boot and a chop of her own and as Stevie trys to put Lory into the corner post she side steps him and then goes to top rope for a big close arm of her own and then the pin for the W!
Axel Carter vs Jay Skyes - With Axel defending the Slam Wrestling X-Division Championship. This is a fast paced match Axel has spent the lock down on his look but Jay is all heart. Axel just takes jay for rope to rope post to post but jay gets a chance as Axel went over the rope and Jay baseball slides to kick Axel and then Jay goes for a belly flop but Axel catches him and rams jay into the ring post! With Axel getting frustrated he goes for the belt and hits jay... As the referee goes to call for the bell jay begs him not to Axel gives jay just to much time and after sending jay off the ropes jay goes and kicks Axel in the head and starts to climb the ropes as they both to the top of the corner Axel gets jay into a superplex but only gets a 2 count they both trade punches till Axel gives a belly to belly and after jay shows Axel just what he thinks with his middle finger its time for jay to take to the sky with his belly flop frogs splash for the pin ...
This is just the start of what we coming from the new look slam wrestling and right now there is 1 place to find us. Every Tuesday at 8pm only on SLAM WRESTLING TV on YouTube"
Prior to the show, we also invited Slam Wrestling's World and X-Division Champion, Axel Carter on to our hit podcast series, Talking Trash with Team Venom, which can be heard below
Follow his loss in the main event, we reached out to Carter for his thoughts but sadly he refused to comment. We did however speak to Slam Wrestling's resident veteran, Layton Cole, who offered the following thoughts on the show:
"Watching the first YouTube premiere from 4ft away from the ring on the commentary table was a new experience. The last 20 years Iv Hurd the show unfold from the dressing room or watched on monitor.
Match of the night personally for me as a talent was the main event between Axel Carter and Jay Skye's! The match had a big fight feel even on a closed set!
It unfolded slowly and drew us all in.
Some great classic pro wrestling and just the type of thing I enjoy personally.
Looking forward to calling the action next Tuesday or even getting some active ring time.... I'll take this opportunity to Call out Axel Carter. If he's in a position to sign a title match for next Tuesday on the Live YouTube show. I know he has no obligation to do so but if he wants to be seen as "The Guy" he's going to need to defend against all comers!"
