Yesterday evening Rev Pro Wrestling took to twitter to announce their return to PPV with a show that will air on Fite TV August 23rd. However the news of the return was not met with the fanfare I am sure they were expecting, with the company drawing heavy criticism for having Micheal Oku and Will Osprey on the card. Will Osprey, the current Rev Pro British Heavyweight Champion is to team up with the Rev Pro Cruiserweight champion, Micheal Oku, as they take on Kyle Fletcher and Ricky Knight Jr (RKJ). Also on the card, the main event, the women’s championship is due to be defended by champion Gisele Shaw who is scheduled to take on the No. 1 contender Jamie Hayter.
It had come out during the Speaking out movement that Will Osprey had attempted to have female wrestler Pollyanna blackballed after she came forward with claims that Scotty Wainwright also known as Scotty Essex had sexually assaulted her. Pollyanna accused Will Osprey, a long time friend and tag team partner of Scotty Wainwright, of using his popularity and influence to get her taken off cards and blackballed. At least one company, the International Wrestling League (IWL) had come forward in defence of Pollyanna, releasing an e-mail that they had received from their venue following a conversation the venue had had with Will Osprey.
Micheal Oku also known as the OJMO has come under fire after taking a strong stance against the performers who had been accused of sexual conduct. This included calling out many performers and promoters in the industry, so much so that Progress Wrestling took notice and added Micheal Oku to the new management team put together to tackle the recent issues brought to light and ensure future safe guarding for wrestlers and fans alike. Amongst others, the former trainer at Progress Wrestling’s training facility, Darrell Allen was ‘outed’ however it was during these exchanges that Darrell Allen released messages in which Micheal Oku is shown making derogatory homo-sexual jokes.
