Pro Wrestling EVE Break Silence on #SpeakingOut Movement

The Speaking out movement shock the Brit Wres scene to it’s core, the movement started over 3 weeks ago, many companies were quick to make statements with regards to certain wrestlers, with many talents not being welcomed back any time soon. That would not be the end as many of those that spoke out and supporters screamed out to see a true change within the industry to ensure safety for the trainees, talents and fans. Again many companies were quick to make statements of intent moving forward as they looked to introduce safeguarding measures and code of conducts as well as many companies seemingly promoting female talents in management or coaching positions, but is this really enough.

Pro Wrestling EVE one of Europe’s top all female wrestling companies, had yet to make a statement, this came as surprise for many, with fans and wrestling media hounding the company to make a statement. Pro Wrestling EVE released a statement today on their official twitter account, however it was more statement addressing why they had made the decision not to make a statement, whilst taking the time accuse some companies of making statements as a PR Stunt.

“I am not Keen on making a statement right now, I personally believe the majority of public statements we’ve seen as nothing more than a PR stunt to go look at us aren't we good”

They would go on to note that this would be their only update or statement, with regards to any of the Speaking Out movement, believing this is a time for companies to be listening and not blindly making statements. They would go on to talk about this being about the victims, and not the companies.

“A decision was made to keep inactive on social media including to suspend all scheduled live streams and YouTube uploads in order to make sure that all the attention was rightfully on those speaking out as right now it is time to be listening”

Pro Wrestling EVE would continue along this line, stating that media requests have been directed to the women to speaking out. They would also discuss the procedures they had already had in place with regards to safe guarding and code of conducts. Noting that since 2019 Pro Wrestling Eve had been working along side Equity Trade Union the first independent wrestling company to do so. This included Pro Wrestling Eve adopting Equity’s Code Of Conduct, Dignity at the work place policy and more. Also noting an Equity representative at every EVE show they would regularly speak to talent prior to the show and make them selves available to speak quietly and privately should they need to, and that representatives from both companies would meet outside of events.

“Equity representatives and EVE Talent representatives have met independently outside EVE events several times now to keep each other informed of how things are going, and to further the discussion of ideas of how talent may be further help in the wrestling industry. Its a continuity evolving situation as you’d expect being the first of its kind”

Finally they wanted to make it clear that although they’ve been silent they have been very active behind the scenes working with Equity, MP representatives, Government officials and anyone who can help bring additional attention to the movement. They also took an opportunity wish every body well in this current climate and to remind people to wear face masks.
