Fans of the hit series Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid can finally rejoice as the series set to return with season 2 next year, 4 years after series 1 first aired. The first series was released in 2017, the series was produced and animated by Kyoto Animation and is based off of the Light Novel/Manga written by coolkyousinnjya. The series is a slice of life comedy with a fantasy twist and has gained a cult following, many of which have been asking when or if there would be a second season since the end of the first. They finally got the good news in 2019, but since the 2019 announcement the project has been kept under tight lock, that is until recently.
Plot
Miss Kobayashi lives a normal mundane life working your typical boring office job, there is nothing special in her life. Until one drunken night she befriends a dragon named Tohru, after a drunken conversation the Dragon ends up moving in with her much to Miss Kobiyahshi’s surprise. However Tohru explains she is there to help Miss Kobiyashi as her live in Maid, making the living situation quite unique, however every day tasks can prove to be quite some trouble for a dragon – even if she’s in human form.
Season 2 return
The long awaited return has finally been updated, since the announcement of it’s return in 2019 by Kyoto animation, there has been no further news. Even the official twitter account for the series has been quiet since 2019, until a few days ago when they released a tweet teasing something awesome coming. After a notable reporter for many anime listings and project announcements Twitter user Ryokutya837 revealed the release date for Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid would be in 2021. Since these tweets, Kyoto Animation have released a poster showing art work for the season 2 whilst also confirming the name for its second season: Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Super Supreme Second life Starts, or more simply known as Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S. A second poster was also released reminding everyone to wear a mask, stay home and to keep social distancing.
This Series is extremely poignant for Kyoto Animation as during the arson attack of 2019, the original project director Yasuhiro Takemoto was unfortunately taken from us, along with artist Shiho Morisaki who had also worked on the project.
