Following the #SpeakingOut campaign which has rocked the wrestling world, in particular the Brit Wres scene. Progress Wrestling has had a complete overhaul with regards to the management team.
Leaving the management team
Matt Richards, who worked as a commentator and Ring announcer as well as working as part of the creative team has announced his own departure on twitter yesterday “This morning I made the decision to step down from both my roles in creative & as ring announcer at PROGRESS Wrestling Quite openly & honestly, I've fallen out of love with wrestling”
Also leaving is Glen Robinson/Joesph who worked as an announcer but was also one of the original partners when he joined Jim Smallman and Jon Briley. Unfortunately, there have been many accusations made against Glen.
Jon Briley has also stepped down, although the statement from Progress states Jon is stepping back due to major health reasons.
A new management Team
James Amner who has worked within the wrestling industry for the last 5 years, including being responsible for Progress events run overseas.
Vicky Haskins will also be joining the team, the wife of prominent UK wrestler Mark Haskins has been working in the wrestling scene along side her husband for the last 16 years.
Young British wrestler Micheal Oku also known as OJMO. Micheal is one of the hottest young talents on British wrestling scene over the last two years and has worked for most top UK independent companies including Progress.
Lucy Cave who works for the Social Media team at Progress will be assisting the new set up.
With this change in management Progress has stated “There will not be a show for a while, but we will be taking this time to ensure that Progress is a safe space for talent and fans alike. Our priority is to make the wrestling industry the best that it possibly can be.”
Talent Suspensions and Firings
It is not just the management side though, as many of Progress’ Talents have either been suspended indefinitely or out right told they will not be returning to Progress Wrestling.
Departures
Travis Banks, El Ligero, David Starr and Referee Mark “Paz” Parry have been told that they will no longer be working for Progress.
Suspensions
Jordan Devlin and Scotty Davis have both been suspended indefinitely, and tag team titles have been vacated.
With regards to these suspensions and departures Progress made this statement “We take all these allegations extremely seriously. Those under suspension will have their situation reviewed periodically between now and events starting again. We continue to monitor and listen to the Speaking Out movement so that we can take appropriate action where necessary.”
