An Interview with Nixon Newell (The Six Step Process)

The Six-Step Process is a regular interview that we ran on both the Team Venom website and Team Venom Magazine and will run on this website on a regular basis. Basically we ask the same 6 questions in a kind of “quick-fire” interview with a random top British talent. This week’s 6-Step is with the phenomenal Nixon Newell

1. What got you into Wrestling?

I used to watch it as a child with my grandfather and when I turned 16 I found a school in Port Talbot and then the rest is history

2. What has been your favourite match so far?

So far my favourite match is probably Myself vs Chris at Fight Club Pro or Myself vs Candice LaRae vs Kay Lee Ray vs Saraya Knight at Southside this past weekend. The match against Chris was so much fun as he pushed me to my limit and we’re a tag so getting to fight him was different but a good different. The 4 way at Southside was a lot of fun as I got to work with some of the best female wrestlers in the world so that was a huge accomplishment for me and I’m honoured to have done it.

3. Who has been your favourite opponent to work with?

So far my favourite opponent has probably been Pete Dunne because again he pushes me past my limit which has made me improve a lot over the last year. As for female workers it’d probably be between Kay Lee Ray and Candice because these girls are definitely two of the best and we’re quite similar in a way in regards to what we can do in the ring so getting the chance to work with these ladies on the weekend was awesome.

4. What’s been your favourite town to work in?

Probably Dawley or Leeds University Night Club because those crowds are awesome, they’re really into everything so it just makes the match so much fun.

5. If you could work with anyone who would it be?

A fantasy match would be against Molly Holly or Mickie James just because I looked up to those ladies as a child but on the indy scene I’d love to work with Ricky Shane Page. Mark Andrews & Pete Dunne told me about him when they got back from America and when the showed me some of his stuff I was instantly like “Yup I need to work with him” so hopefully that’ll happen one day.

6. What does the future hold for Nixon?

Hopefully I’ll get to travel to different countries more and maybe do a tour of America, well that’s my goal I’m aiming for in the next 3 years. There’s so much great talent out there so hopefully it’ll happen soon.
