For our one off TNA special, published Jan 2015, we had the opportunity to interview one of the UK’s top talents and the winner of TNA’s British Boot Camp 2, Mark Andrews. You can currently see Mark in action for TNA Wrestling each and every week!
1) Firstly, you’ve spent the last few years on the British independant scene and have spent the last 4-5 months in TNA. How are you settling in with TNA?
I love it! Everyone’s really welcoming, and it’s an overwhelming experience. I’ve just been trying to soak in as much as possible. The whole experience has been a huge learning curve.
2) You’ve had some high quality matches with the likes of Kris Travis, Will Osprey and many more. Who would you say has been your favourite opponent so far?
My favorite opponent has to be my tag team partner Pete Dunne. We know eachother inside out, and we’ve been in the ring together more times than I can count. Other than him, I absolutely love working with Kris Travis, Will Ospreay, Wild Boar, Rickey Shane Page, Damian Dunne and Andy Wild.
3) Now that you’re in TNA, Anyone in particular that you’ve got your sights on?
I’m desperate to get back in the ring with DJZ. Other than him i’m excited to work with all of the X Division. It’s full of world wide talent and i’m hoping to get in the ring with everyone involved in it. I’d also love to get in the ring with guys I watched growing up like Matt and Jeff Hardy.
4) How are you finding balancing time between TNA and your band, Junior?
I’ve always been someone who’s kept myself busy with various ventures, so it’s nothing new for me! Moving out to America will make it slightly harder for us to progress as a band, but i’m hoping it will have it’s perks too. There’s a really strong pop punk music scene across America, and it might work out for the best if I can get involved with some of the communities out there. Plus, a lot of wrestling fans tend to check out my band too, so I guess it’s more exposure for us too!
5) How did you feel upon winning British Boot Camp 2?
Completely overwhelmed. It took a long time to finally sink in, because when I first found out it didn’t seem real! Since then i’ve felt incredibly fortunate for the position i’ve been put in, and i’m really appreciative of the opportunity I was given to be apart of the show.
6) Where has been your favourite town to wrestle so far?
I love wrestling in my hometown, Cardiff, because I get a lot of local support from my friends and family. I also love wrestling in London as I have a strong following there, whether it be at the Electric Ballroom, or Wembley, the crowds are always awesome!
7) What does the future hold for Mark Andrews?
I’m hoping to progress as much as I can over the next few years both in wrestling and other ventures. I think moving Stateside is going to offer me a lot of opportunities, and i’m really hoping to make the most out of them. Being apart of TNA is offering great experience for me, so i’m excited for everything that’s coming up in the near future!
