The Six-Step Process is a regular interview that will run on this website on a regular basis. Basically we ask the same 6 questions in a kind of “quick-fire” interview with a random top independent talent. This week’s 6-Step is with one of the UK indie scene's top managers, Mat Davis aka Malachi J. Matthews.
1. What got you into wrestling?
I've been into Wrestling since as long as I can remember, firstly watching World Of Sport at my Nan's on a Saturday, then I discovered WCW and WWF, The late 80's / early 90's stuff is the best. I love Bobby and Gorilla. I've been watching it ever since.
2. What’s been your favourite experience so far?
My first sold out HOPE show. It was the night of the Boogeyman no show so it could have gone horribly wrong but we smashed it.
3. Where has been your favourite place to work so far?
I work for HOPE and at the end of last year started at LCW. I love the Hope shows but the crowd at LCW is totally different, it's full of screaming kids that are so into it, and they all hate me, it's amazing. I love a "bad" reaction. I love working at both for different reasons.
4. What would be your dream scenario?
Who wouldn't want to be chucked off a cage at Hell In a Cell by Cactus Jack?
5. Who have been your favourite people to work with?
I love being around people like El Ligero, Paul Malen and Joe Conners, their knowledge of the business is amazing and they are always willing to offer advice on anything you may need help with. Hustle Malone has also been a great help and of course non of it would have happened at all if it wasn't for Harvey Dale. But the best person to work with is, of course Magic Mark. It's great to be able to sit there and argue with him. We get on really well in the real world so it's a lot easier to be a knob to him in character.
6. What does the future hold for you?
We have a lot of plans for 2017 at HOPE and LCW. We are over in Italy in March for our first HOPE show with RISING SUN promotions which is going to be be wicked, we have our Kings Of Flight tournament in April which is always an amazing show. Last year we had the likes of Will Osprey, Mark Andrews, Flash Morgan Webster to name a few. Plus lots of other stuff I can't tell you about yet so follow us on Facebook to keep track www.facebook.com/HOPEWrestling
