An Interview with Ken Dixon (The Six Step Process)

The Six-Step Process is a regular interview that we ran on both the Team Venom website and Team Venom Magazine and will run on this website on a regular basis. Basically we ask the same 6 questions in a kind of “quick-fire” interview with a random top independent talent. This week’s 6-Step is with one of the indie scene’s top stars, Ken Dixon.

1. What got you into wrestling?

What got me into wrestling as a fan was the action and the characters of that time. It was like watching Saturday morning cartoons but with real people. When I came across an opportunity to actually get in the ring, I jumped at it. I'm glad I did.

2. What’s been your favourite experience so far?

My favorite experience in the wrestling business would have to be the bonding experiences with so many like minded people. I've met people that I would've never gotten an opportunity to otherwise. Wrestling is a common bond we share, we all want to get better & succeed. That's very exciting to be around.

3. Where has been your favourite place to work so far?

My favorite promotion to work for is MCW in Maryland. It's my home, it's my bread & butter. I helped build that house, I take pride in everything that happens in that building. However, I take pride in most all of the companies I work for. Especially the ones that invest the time/energy to bring me back regularly with significance -- Primal Conflict Wrestling in Harper's Ferry, WV. AML in North Carolina, Wildkat Sports in New Orleans. It's a blessing, for sure.

4. What would be your dream scenario?

A bit of a broad question, but my dream scenario would have to be getting to a point where wrestling is my sole focus as far as providing for my family. My bookings are increasing & I have few irons in the few fire. You know what they say - high risk, high reward.

5. Who have been your favourite people to work with?

My favorite people to work with so far have been my past/present tag team partners. Hoss Hagood, Joe Keys, Rob Locke. Ryan McBride has been a mentor to me & I can't thank him enough. My coach/rival The Bruiser has been instrumental & continues to push me to be the best I can be. The list is a long one. I appreciate anybody who has every invested even a moment in my wrestling career.

6. What does the future hold for you?

I believe the future is bright for me because I'm an optimistic guy, for the most part. You get out of this business what you put in to it & I make sure I put 110% into whatever I'm doing. I'm looking forward to what the future has in store for me.
