The Six-Step Process is a regular interview that will run on this website on a regular basis. Basically we ask the same 6 questions in a kind of “quick-fire” interview with a random top independent talent. This week’s 6-Step is with one of the UK indie scene’s top up-and-comers, Eddy Woods.
1. What got you into wrestling?
I always remember channel flicking as a child and coming across a WWF Sunday heat show and thinking it was the greatest thing ever! In hindsight, looking back now a show like that probably wasn't. But still being captivated by large life characters and man mountains I always knew this is what I want to do... but took me till the age of 20 to bite the bullet and do it, not starting sooner is my only regret!
2. What’s been your favourite experience so far?
I've had so many but I have to say just most recently winning and becoming the first SLAM Tag team championships with Adam idol, I think mainly because we've wanted to be tag champions since we first met, and it just being with you're best mate just makes it even cooler.
3. Where has been your favourite place to work so far?
I've always enjoyed going over to Isle of Wight and wrestling but my by far my favourite venue has to be the Prince of Wales theatre in Cannock, mainly because this is where I watched wrestling as a kid, and it's always had a great production value to the shows that they've had there, just makes that dream a little more real.
4. What would be your dream scenario?
My dream scenario would be to make a good healthy full time living off wrestling, I think for everyone it's going to the WWE. But that's not the be all and end all in wrestling anymore, especially now. I remember when I started just over 4 years ago and shows just weren't drawing crowds and it just felt like maybe wrestling isn't cool anymore, and I don't what has happened over this last couple of years but there been like a sudden boom, and it's helping everyone on the UK scene get closer to a dream.
5. Who have been your favourite people to work with?
I use to love working with Adam idol just because we'd beat the snot out of each other. Getting the chance to working with CJ Rawlings especially now, he's just came into a world of his own with his character over the last year. Paul Malen has always been a real favourite for me, for me he just has it! With his crowd work and just all around knowledge and I can always walk away learning something from a match with him. Another guy and the probably one of the most important has to be Layton Cole, not because he's been training me and been in my ear over the 4 years but when ever we're in the ring we push each over to new highs there's always so much flow, always knowing what's coming next, in my eyes massively under rated and only just now getting the credit he deserves!
6. What does the future hold for you?
I have no idea what the future brings just yet, I really like to just go with the follow and enjoy the unexpected, just recently started training with Al Snow's wrestling academy, and meeting with Al has really been a difference maker for me, having someone with his knowledge tell you how to precent yourself in the right way mean so much, just blows me away with all his knowledge, but I hope training with the school and working shows like I have been doing for the 4 years just pays off one day.
