The Six-Step Process is a regular interview that will run on this website on a regular basis. Basically we ask the same 6 questions in a kind of “quick-fire” interview with a random top independent talent. This week’s 6-Step is with one of the UK indie scene's top up-and-comers, CJ Rawlings (Formerly Jayson Maverick).
1. What got you into wrestling?
The same way a lot of people get into wrestling I guess. Through television, it was just something I had an instant connection with. The thing that really cemented that this is what I want to do was the promo package for Jeff Hardy at the Royal Rumble 2008 which completely blew my mind.
2. What’s been your favourite experience so far?
That's a seriously tough question, there's been so many experiences I've loved. But I think I'm going to have to go with winning the Slam Heavyweight championship for the second time in the same arena that I used to watch the WWE in growing up, that was a pretty awesome feeling.
3. Where has been your favourite place to work so far?
I've been really fortunate to have worked some great venues the Birmingham NEC was absolutely insane. Another one that I always love returning too is the Prince of Wales theatre in Cannock the crowd are always so vocal and an absolute pleasure to work in front of. I also really enjoy the holiday camp shows. I've gained a really loyal fan base through all of these venues.
4. What would be your dream scenario?
My dream scenario is hard to say, there is so much awesome talent right now all over the world and so many matches I would love to have. But I think every wrestlers dream is to perform at Wrestlemania and be that guy that everybody payed for their ticket to see.
5. Who have been your favourite people to work with?
Layton Cole would have to be one we've worked well over 100 times up and down the country and we always bring the best out of each other. Another one Is Christopher Drew he is one of the first guys when I was starting out I really experienced chemistry with. I love working Jessie Jones, we both have a similar mindset which always makes the matches a lot of fun. I recently had a great physical street fight with Adam Idol there is so many people I enjoy working with, that is just naming a few.
Another guy would deffo be Tukay, his athleticism makes for a very fun unpredictable match.
6. What does the future hold for you?
My goal right now is to make as big of an impact as physically possible on the Uk scene make the most of every single opportunity I have to shine, showcase myself and most importantly stand out. Another big goal of mine is to head out to do an international tour very soon branching myself out to an even larger market. I'm also making it my mission to have crazy amounts of fun with some really great people while achieving this.
