AEW Release 3 British Stars

It was reported this morning that AEW have removed 3 of its Superstars from its active roster page on the AEW website. These Stars Include Jimmy Havoc, Bea Priestly and Sadie Gibbs. Although there has not been any official statement by AEW as of yet, the wrestling Observer is reporting that these stars have been released by the company.

Jimmy Havoc

Jimmy Havoc signed for AEW back in February of last year and he made his debut at the Double or Nothing PPV Pre show in the casino Battle Royle, most notably bringing a staple gun into the ring with him. The Staple gun would go on to be a ‘staple’ of his early AEW run and most recently he had been teaming with fellow Brit wrestler Kip Sabian. During the speaking out movement, Havoc found him self implicated in a variety of accusations from assaulting fans, the physical assault of an ex partner and sexual assault, along with his issues with drugs and alcohol being brought to light. Jimmy Havoc was first suspended by AEW as they sent him into rehab, stating they would address things further once he had completed his rehab and it would now seem that AEW have taken the step to release him from the company.

Bea Priestly

Bea Priestly also signed with AEW back in February of last year, making her debut at the Fight for the Fallen 2019 event in a match where she teamed with Shoko Nakajima as they faced off against Riho and Dr Brit Baker DMD. During the match she accidentally concussed opponent Britt Baker, gaining her some heat backstage, the two would later go on to feud and have a match at the Full Gear PPV. Bea’s last match with AEW came on the March 11th edition of Dynamite where she teamed with Nyla Rose to face Hiakru Shida and Kris Statlander. Bea’s main residence is in the UK, but she also spends a lot of her time living with her Partner, Will Osprey in Japan. It is not currently known if her release has anything to do with the speaking out movement, but there is some speculation. Will Osprey and Bea had come under fire during the speaking out movement with accusations against them of bullying and blackballing fellow female British wrestler Pollyanna.

Sadie Gibbs

This is the most shocking of the three releases, although she did confirm the release her self on twitter, all reports were that she had no heat back stage. It is also being reported that she was due to move to the US permanently to train at the Nightmare Factory with QT Marshall, until the global pandemic put a stop to those plans. Sadie Gibbs made her debut in the women's Casino Battle Royale match where she helped eliminate Awesome Kong before being eliminated by Bea Priestly, her last match was a tag team match on AEW Dark.

It should also be noted that all three of the performers are from the UK Scene, although Jimmy Havoc has made the US his permanent home, both Sadie and Bea still live in the UK, and since the global health pandemic they have been stuck on lockdown in the UK. It should also be noted that neither of the two girls worked exclusively for AEW and both mainly worked in Japan for the Japanese Joshi wrestling promotion Stardom, so this may have played a role in the releases of the afformentioned superstars. This leaves many worrying about the future of fellow AEW UK performer PAC, as he is currently stuck in the UK as well, however he is one of the major stars in AEW so I hope his position should be secure.
