A look at MLW’s new signings prior to #Re-Start

MLW are moving towards a re-start with bunch of fresh new shows that start streaming as of November the 2nd, the new shows will not have fans in attendance but that hasn’t fazed MLW CEO Court Bauer. MLW are promising a new more edgier style of programming that will use the ‘no fans’ situation to their advantage, learning from those companies that did not take a break during the lock down. MLW chose to suspend all operations during the global health crisis, not wanting to put any of their staff, competitors or fans at risk. MLW have not run a show since the MLW x AAA super series back in March.

Court Bauer however took no time off during the lock down, instead he was busy looking for locations, researching how to run shows safely and readying for a return to action. He was also busy in the boardroom singing some of MLW’s top talents such as Jacob Fatu, Alexander Hammerstone and Richard Holliday to new long term deals. He has also been scouting new talents ready for the re-start, new talents such as recent signings Calvin Tankman and Kevin Ku, we look into MLW’s newest signings so fans know what to expect come November.

Calvin Tankman

Calvin Tankman is a new breed of super heavyweight, blending athleticism with raw power, he only has 4 years experience having made his debut in 2016. He became a mainstay with IWA Mid-South for the next couple of years going on to hold the IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Championship.

Calvin has also held championships in the Wrestling Theology Fellowship (WTF) as well as Bizzaro Lucha promotion.

2020 was meant to be Calvin’s breakout year having made his debut for GCW he would go onto to make 4 appearances for the promotion including GCW’S homecoming show. He also made his debut for Black Label Pro recently defeating fellow MLW competitor Eric Stevens for the promotions title.

At 6 foot 2 inches and 335 lbs Tankman is all about Heavyweight Hustle, a former Division 1 football player, Tankman also spent time as an MMA practitioner, so he has plenty of tools to bring to the MLW ring.

MLW have themselves yet another Super heavyweight to go along with Jacob Fatu, Alexander Hammerstone and Logan Creed expect some monster battles come November.

Calvin made his debut in PWI: 500 this year, ranking in at 408.

Kevin Ku

Kevin Ku is MLW newest signing and he already has connections in the promotion (as seen on MLW Pulp Fusion) as regular tag team partner of Team Filthy’s Dominik Garinni, the pair held Tag Team titles in Southern underground Pro (SUP) and Pro Wrestling Freedom (PWF). Kevin Ku is also an accomplished singles competitor having held the PWF heavyweight title prior to the promotion ceasing operations in 2018.

Kevin Ku has 6 years experience debuting in 2014, he made his way through the Independents trying to make a name for himself, in 2017 Kevin Ku first debuted for Black Label Pro, Ku would go on to make appearances in Beyond Wrestling and GCW.

He has somewhat of an unusual background from being trained in Karate and he also competed in Olympic Weightlifting. ‘Violence is Forever’ is more than just the tag team name of Ku and Garinni, it’s Ku’s Mantra in wrestling. He emphasises this with rapid fire strikes and kicks from his Karate days, he is also able to switch up his style from technical to a more a brawling style when required.

Kevin is a perfect fit not only for MLW but also for Team Filthy who will be stronger than ever with this latest addition, no doubt they’ll be looking to renew their hostilities towards the current MLW tag team champions Ross and Marshal Von Erich.

Kevin also made his debut in the PWI: 500 and ranked in at 350.
