WWE release 2 NXT UK superstars following accusations of sexual abuse in the wake of the #SpeakingOutMovement. Both Travis Banks and El Ligero have had their contracts terminated by the WWE. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has been following the movement on twitter as Banks and El Ligero were implicated early on by several women from the Brit Wres scene releasing stories on Twitter. The superstars were told they would not becoming back to Progress Wrestling earlier this week. The release of the two superstars is yet to be confirmed by the WWE a tweet from POST wrestling’s John Pollock, and has since been confirmed by other sources including Brian Alvarez of Wrestling Observer.
Travis Banks
Banks was accused by fellow Brit Wres star Millie Mckenzie, of Mentally and physically abusing her, when she was just a 17 year old trainee supposedly under the guidance of the then 30 year old Banks. As part of the accusations Millie provided screen shots of arguments with Travis Banks including one where Banks had followed her to a hotel after a show and was banging on her door demanding to be let in whilst she asked him to leave. Her story has been corroborated by others. Banks had released a statement previously where he admitted to the relationship and also tried to offer an apology for any pain that he caused.
El Ligero
El Ligero had been accused by many female trainee wrestlers including Natalie Skyes and Debbie Keitel who both accuse Ligero of harassing and manipulating them. He was also accused by Violet Ohara of sexually assaulting her. In a released statement, although El Ligero did admit to some wrong doing with regards to Kietel and Skyes, he did deny the allegations brought forward by Violet O’hara.
Both superstars follow WWE British Wrestler Jack Gallagher out of the company, with worries over the state of NXT UK with several other stars still having accusations hanging over their heads, there are strong worries that NXT UK may be done for.
