MLW 108 Super Series Week 4 Recap and Review

As we head to week 4 of the MLW x AAA Super Series, it is MLW who currently have a 4 – 2 lead. This weeks Main Event is Injustice Myron Reed, Kotta Brazil and Jordan Oliver will take on the AAA Trio Champions Jinetes Del Aire Vikingo, Octagon Jr. & Myzteziz Jr. This will be the only match this week that is part of the inter-promotional super series, but to kick off the show there will be a AAA trio’s exhibition match Poder Del Norte vs. Black Destiny, Fantastick, Rayo Star.

AAA Trios Exhibition Match

Poder Del Norte (Mocho Cota Jr, Tito Santana, Carta Brava Jr) vs. Black Destiny, Fantastick, Rayo Star

Yes you read that right Tito Santana, but do not worry it is not El Matador, Tito Santana once of the then WWF, which is shame as I would’ve been more interested in this match if it was El Matador as he was one of my favourites growing up watching wrestling. I am not going to try a break this match down and do play by play, as I couldn’t even if I wanted too, the match was all over the place, it was contested under Lucha tag rules, which I’m not sure if there actually are any rules at all. This match made no sense what so ever just a bunch of people flipping and diving every where, it was entertaining and they looked impressive doing their flips and dives, but I wouldn’t call it a good wresting match. In the End Poder Del Norte picked up the win.

Life Style of Rich and Dynastic

This week sees Dynasty members, Richard Holliday and Alexander Hammerstone in Puerto Rico and not just anywhere in Puerto Rico, but right outside the childhood home of the former Caribbean champion Savio Vega. It would be made clear that Savio’s mother had run into financial troubles so Richard Holliday had purchased the house, he said this makes him Richie two titles as he has the Caribbean championship title and the title to Savio’s family home.

Back Stage Promo

Brian Pillman Jr delivers a promo on the members of Injustice, specifically Jordan Oliver, after last weeks Main Event where the Hart Foundation reunited and picked up a win for the MLW, Injustice members attacked Brian Pillman Jr, with Oliver having cut a piece of his hair off. So Pillman challenges Jordan Oliver to hair vs hair match, I presume when MLW resumes.

La Cocina de LA Park

Another promo from the Los Parks family direct from their Kitchen, whilst they cook up another dish they deliver a promo on Psycho Clown and the team he chooses for next week’s main event and the final match of the Super Series. He then turns his attention to the future of MLW stating claim for him and his boys to enter the tag division, as well as talking on MLW new signings Pagano and Konnan.

Back Stage Promo

Following his triumphant win last week, Davey Boy Smith grabs a camera and addresses Contra Unit member and MLW Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu, to challenge him to match for the MLW Heavyweight Championship.

Video Promo

Mance Warner had sent in a video message promo in relation to finding out what Dynasty had done earlier with regards to Richard Holliday buying Savio Vega’s Childhood home, which he calls sick. He then calls out Alexander Hammerstone as he continues to angle a championship match for the National Open Weight Title, which Mance has be calling the peoples championship, claiming he is not to be afraid of the meat castle or the peaks of muscle mountain.

Main Event

AAA Trio’s Championship Match

Injustice (Myron Reed, Kotta Brazil and Jordan Oliver) Vs Champions Jinetes Del Aire, (Vikingo, Octagon Jr. & Myzteziz Jr)

So another trios match held under Lucha Tag rules, so of course this made no sense, it was more entertaining than the first match of the night. It was still just a bunch of people doing moves to each other with little rhyme or reason, people just entering the match when ever they felt like it, this wasn’t a wrestling match it was competitive cirque du soleil. Each person in this match is capable of doing some truly incredible things, the two stand outs of the match were Jinetes Del Aire’s Vikingo and Injustices Myron Reed, but the other competitors still showed incredible athleticism, agility and balance. There were some excellent triple team moves and combos from both teams that did have you dropping your jaws, and the flips and dives were incredible. All of these guys could have incredible single matches in my opinion but as multi man tag team it just did not flow well. You could see they have not worked together before as some of the transitions looked sloppy, I hate when people stand still and wait for their opponent to their move, it takes you out of the match. In the end Jinetes Del Aire managed to pick up the win, thanks in part to Brian Pillman Jr who caused a distraction towards the end of the match.

Final thoughts

These Lucha tag rules matches just make no sense it’s just people doing moves for the sake of doing moves, Vikinigo and Myron Reed one on one would be an incredible match so would Myzteziz Jr and Jordan Oliver, or Octagon Jr Vs Kotta Brazil and that was clear to see during the trios match. Honestly the Promos were the best part of night, even the 12 minute cooking show the Los Parks family, great promos from Pillman Jr and Mance Warner, the Dynasty episode was just as funny as ever. However the exhibition match at the beginning of this week really let the episode down, being an exhibition match and not part of the Super Series meant it didn’t matter so why should we care, plus it was a bad match.
