Jim Cornette Resigns from NWA

Jim Cornette has resigned from the NWA following controversy over a racist joke during the latest edition of NWA Power, which had to be pulled from YouTube to be re-edited before being re-released yesterday. This is not the first time Jim Cornette has been under controversy for a joke, an old joke made on Jim Cornette Experience about suicide resurfaced, with a group of SJW’s complaining to the NWA trying to get Jim Cornette fired. The controversial joke made by Jim Cornette was during a match between NWA champion Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch, the comment was made in regards to Trevor Murdoch. Jim Cornette was doing his usual over exaggeration of just how tough Murdoch is, trying to help Trevor Murdoch get over with viewers. “He’s the only man I’ve ever known that can strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia.” NWA released the following statement regarding Jim Cornette resignation. Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance. To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we’ve established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward. We sincerely regret our failure in this regard. NWA Champion Nick Aldis also weighed in on the controversy releasing this statement on twitter, “I'm sorry for the inappropriate remarks and am glad to see they have been promptly edited out. I hope this is the first and last time an episode of NWAPower is overshadowed by something like this.” He also provided his two cents on the matter “This is no way speaking on behalf of the NWA, I am absolutely just speaking for myself: I thought the comment was in poor taste and unnecessary. I totally understand why caused many to be upset. It was a lack of Judgement and sensitivity. I have worked really hard along with many others on this team to make this brand mean something again and this is not how I want to see the NWA to be trending.” Jim Cornette however seems to just be taking this all in his stride releasing this tweet “Morning everybody! Heard any good jokes lately? This coming Friday’s Jim Cornette Experience (wherever you find your favorite podcasts) is liable to be a good one if you like hearing stupid people told what they can do with their stupidity.” My Opinion I am not going to sit a defend the joke, I can’t, it was a bad joke and to be honest it was not that funny. Although I find it really hard to believe that it truly offended people that much that they had to pull the episode and Jim Cornette has to resign. There has been a campaign over the last few weeks with SJW’s looking for any reason to attack Jim Cornette to try and get him fired over any over exaggeration or joke. The thing is that is exactly what Jim Cornette does he makes bad jokes and over exaggerates. As a former wrestling manager/promoter and now a Wrestling personality with his podcast, he jokes and over exaggerates for effect and not for offense. One thing that has annoyed me slightly is these current NWA Power episodes were recorded weeks ago, how did nobody pick up on this comment before hand? Obviously it was green lit and deemed okay before they aired it by the producers and management. I for one will miss Jim Cornette on commentary for the NWA but it won’t stop tuning each week and I will still tune into the Jim Cornette experience and Drive Through each and every week.
